Somewhere Over The Rainbow

How many times have you considered the rainbows end and what lies in waiting. I suppose it depends upon your priorities at that stage of your life. There are times when you may wish for more money and some wonderful good fortune. Another time you may simply wish for the best of health because you have been worried about that particular situation.

So what do you need in your life more than anything else at this moment.

Just the other day I was sitting outside looking around me at the grass and the gum trees, I had been feeling a bit bored I suppose, in need of some excitement. As I glanced around, I could see some kangaroos lazing about and a few ducks by the dam. Nothing out of the usual in the natural way of things.

It occured to me that what I was taking for granted, others would feel like they were living inside a wildlife sanctuary if they were here. Out there someone is making their wish to live in a place like this, and I'm feeling bored. So I took another look around, and this time I saw two ducks arguing over one female duck. I saw a couple of juvenile kangaroos testing out their fighting skills on each other, kicking and clopping each other across the head. Then a couple of magpies were swooping after some other poor bird who just happened to have entered their territory. I looked down at the footpath smiling to myself and there I saw a small ant tugging on a dead grasshopper for all he was worth.

I have a real life action movie going on in my backyard, how could I feel bored. I am so lucky to be living here. We can make wishes for things we think we need or want but maybe we should stop and learn to appreciate that which we have. At least try to see what is good in our lives.

I now see I don't need to reach the end of the rainbow to fulfill my today dreams, I can find as many colourful moments in my life as there are colours in that rainbow. What about the here after dreams, maybe that is what rainbows are for. I cannot help but wonder what will be the situation in the next life time.
I made Norman a promise that one day we will walk together somewhere very special. If I'm really lucky, I will find my beautiful cat Norman waiting for me, somewhere over the rainbow.
