GENETICS

Family traits, hand me downs, moles and freckles, red hair, no hair and just a little bit of unwanted hair. It's all in the genes. Here's the doosy, so too are all of your peculiarities and behavioural patterns. Genetic imprints.
How can the way you feel and react today be associated with the life and times of your ancestors.
It is the case. Here's a present dilemma of today's society for an example. Fat or obese people.
It is exploding out of control in our society, why is this so. Yes fast food is so readily accessible, but what triggers the cravings to over indulge. Genetic imprints.
History shows how many generations ago our predecessors struggled to put one meal on the table for their starving family. This may have been the result of crop failures from disease or adverse weather conditions, perhaps no work was available or pay was insufficient.
It's not difficult to find this information and see just how hard life was way back then, but try if you can to think about the stress and the emotional pain those poor parents must have felt, unable to feed their kids. In many cases it was a life long struggle, something that became their lot in that lifetime.
No food created stress and emotional anxiety in past generations.
It stands to reason that today's generation when under stress and emotional anxiety may turn to food for comfort. Can you see the connection !!!!!!
It's all in the genes. Sometimes I find it difficult to simply relax for any great length of time. I try to sit quietly but feel an overwhelming desire to be doing something, whether that is writing, painting or simply talking to a friend. So I now realise that this problem was created way back in the past. One of my ancestors must have found themselves living a life of constant work, no rest, no quiet time to ponder, if they found a moment with nothing to do it meant no money coming through the door, no money had only negative associations. One could not survive without it and there wasn't any dole way back then.
Perhaps this is why today I find myself very hectic fields of employment, I'm busy so I will survive. Also why I feel uncomfortable doing absolutely nothing. This is a huge area for contemplation. Science has discovered many physical genetic imprints in our make up, but there is so much more to challenge, and thankfully there are those starting to look even deeper.
What causes a genetic mutation to occur. I read one story of a man who had a cancer the size of a soccer ball in his abdomen. Eventually after several therapy sessions he realised he had been carrying guilt from actions he had taken during the war years which lead to soldiers losing their lives. Through therapy he came to understand that taking the blame personally had helped him to cope, beating himself up, it was much easier than trying to work it all out. Therapy did that for him, he learned that he wasn't to blame, circumstances beyond his control, decisions to be made, and he finally released himself from his emotional guilt. Guess what, the huge cancer started to shrink. That cancer was created by his emotional stress, it was an actual physical mutation made from thought and feelings. When he changed his thoughts about himself he was able to reverse the path of self destruction he was on.
Going back to obesity, its not your fault that you feel like eating when you are stressed, release the guilt from the past, this is a new person in the here and now. Try to create your own inner balance. It will not be easy as there will be stuff floating around that you are not even aware of.
It's time to stop beating up on ourselves, it's time to love yourself and enjoy the real you.
